Batate ogulite, narežite na četvrtine i kuhajte 15 – 20 minuta. Ocijedite ih i propasirajte.
Rastopite maslac i na njemu lagano popržite češnjak.
U kipuću vodu ili temeljac dodajte pire od batata, malo soli i kopar te kuhajte na srednje jakoj vatri 3 – 4 minute.
Dodajte vrhnje za kuhanje, đumbir i malo papra. Kad juha zakipi, kuhajte još 1 minutu.
Nakon što juhu ulijete u tanjur, dodajte žličicu bučinog ulja ili vrhnja za kuhanje.
