The Andean berry originates from the mountains of Peru and Chile. Its other name is Cape Gooseberry. In the 19th century, sailors brought it to South Africa, from where it spread near the Cape of Good Hope. The fruits are very tasty and look great. They are particularly rich in vitamin C, provitamin A, and beta-carotene. They also have a high content of iron, phosphorus, proteins, and fats, making them especially valuable nutritionally. The fruits are suitable for fresh consumption, as a snack, in cereals, or as jam – simply delicious! Together with yogurt, they make a tasty and healthy dessert.
The Andean berry is planted from mid-May in a sunny and sheltered outdoor space or in a greenhouse. It is also ideal as a container plant in a sunny spot on the balcony or terrace. The Andean berry fruit is ready for harvest as soon as the lantern-shaped husk looks straw-dry and the inner berries are colored orange.

Plodovi su vrlo ukusni i izgledaju sjajno. Posebno su bogati vitaminom C, provitaminom A, i beta-karotenom. Također imaju visoki sadržaj željeza, fosfora, bjelančevina i masnoća što je čini nutricionistički posebno vrijednom. Plodovi su prikladni za svježu konzumaciju, kao užina, u žitaricama ili džemu - jednostavno ukusno! Zajedno s jogurtom, čine ukusan i zdrav desert.
Andska jagoda sadi se od sredine svibnja na sunčanom i zaštićenom otvorenom prostoru ili u stakleniku. Također je idealna kao kontejnerska biljka na sunčanom mjestu na balkonu ili terasi. Andsko bobičasto voće spremno je za berbu čim oklop u obliku svjetiljke izgleda slamasto suh, a unutarnje bobice obojane narančastom bojom.
